Northern Rivers Children’s Services operate two innovative Early Learning Centres:
Nimbin Early Learning Centre
Nimbin Early Learning Centre is an innovative long day care service offering a high adult to child ratio, ideally suited for younger children.
We have been providing the community of Nimbin with a child focused and nurturing environment since 1999, catering for children from 6 months to school aged, 5 days a week all year (except for 3 weeks at Christmas/New Year).
We also participate in community events and hold special events for families. If you see a notice about an upcoming event please feel free to attend and join us.
This centre is partially funded by the Commonwealth Government and parents/caregivers can apply for the Child Care Subsidy (CCS) to lower their out of pocket expenses. This centre is managed and supported by Northern Rivers Children’s Services Ltd. For more information on how to apply for the CCS, please contact the Centre Director – 02 6689 0142.
We offer permanent or casual bookings and short or long days.
Our fees are: $65.00 per day before CCS.
8.30am – 5.00pm
The centre is located in Gum Nut House, Community Centre Complex, at 81 Cullen Street Nimbin, right in the heart of town.
Gingerbread House Occasional Care
At Gingerbread House, we know that quality child care is important to you and we encourage you to visit our centre, have a look around and meet the staff. We recommend if possible that you spend time here with your child on their first visit to help settle them, so they become accustomed to the staff and environment.
Our Philosophy is to create and promote a safe, caring environment for children aged 6 weeks to school age in short term care and to be supportive of both individual children and their parents’ needs. We will make available age appropriate, interesting experiences to aid children’s overall development.
Our Aim is to provide a home-like atmosphere for each child within a caring and stimulating environment, to build a trusting and secure environment for both children and parents/carers, and to respect the roles of parents and staff.
We offer occasional and permanent bookings.
The Centre is open from Monday to Friday 8.00am – 5.00pm. We are open during school holidays, except two weeks in the Christmas and New Year period. We are closed on public holidays.
Occasional Bookings can be made in advance by phone or in person. Bookings can also be made on the required day if a space is available. The minimum booking taken is two hours.

Cancellations of Occasional Care Bookings need to be prior to 9.00am the day before the booking. Messages can be left on the answering machine if there is no one present at the centre when you call. It is the responsibility of the client to cancel before this time and, should they fail to do so, a cancellation fee will be charged.
Child Care Subsidy (CCS) and Additional Child Care Subsidy (ACCS) helps with the cost of child care for approved services. It is designed to assist families and carer’s with the cost of care. Gingerbread House Occasional Child Care is a CCS approved service. Families must contact the Family assistance Office on 13 61 50 and tell them that their child will attend our service.
